Manchester United have clearly identified their attack as an area of improvement ahead of next season.

Having confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha and agreeing a £71 million fee for Bryan Mbeumo, United are looking to boost their attack further with the addition of a striker.

United have been linked to various strikers throughout the transfer window, most strongly with Victor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike.

However, both players look set to reject United, in favour of moving to Premier League rivals.

David Ornstein has reported on X the outline of an agreement between Frankfurt and Liverpool for Hugo Ekitike.

Although the deal is not formally completed, the deal looks set to get done in the next few days in what will be a club-record fee for Frankfurt, costing upwards of €95 million if all add-ons are met.

Manchester United had been interested in the French striker, however, never formally submitted a bid.

It is thought that United are needing to sell in order to buy a striker, with the Ekitike race seemingly between Liverpool and Newcastle.

However, United will look at other striking options to complete their new look front line.

United have most recently been linked with Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko, both who would add huge amounts to the United front line.

Both strikers suit Ruben Amorim’s demands of his striker as capable channel runners, also being able to occupy defenders and link play together.

United will be hoping to complete their striker signing before the opening day of the season to give Amorim the maximum time on the training ground with his completed squad.
