Manchester United supporters have enjoyed a window full of excitement with key reinforcements already through the door.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have brought much-needed firepower to the attack and both gave glimpses of their quality during the opening-day defeat to Arsenal.

Despite the result, optimism remains high that these additions will transform United’s frontline across the campaign.

Attention now turns to other departments in the squad, with club chiefs intent on ensuring Amorim has balance and quality in every area.

The goalkeeping position, in particular, has been under close scrutiny.

United have been weighing up whether to reinforce their goalkeeping ranks, specially after Andre Onana’s struggles and Altay Bayindir’s costly mistake against Arsenal.

The situation has been further complicated by Onana’s impending involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon, which will rule him out during a key part of the season.

As news circulated earlier, Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens emerged as a serious option with personal terms already believed to have been agreed in principle.

Lammens has remained on United’s shortlist, especially since the Red Devils saw target Vanja Milinkovic-Savic move to Napoli.

According to The Guardian’s report, United are now closing in on a deal worth around €20m (£17m) for Lammens.

The 23-year-old is expected to compete directly with Onana for the No.1 spot.

The 6ft 3in Belgium U21 international came through Club Brugge’s academy before joining Antwerp in 2022, making his first Champions League appearance that same year.

Sources in Belgium via The Guardian suggest terms are close, it is understood the deal is not yet fully finalised.

Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim has reiterated his stance on United’s “bomb squad,” with Garnacho, Sancho, Antony, and Malacia still training away from the first-team group.

With exits for the quartet yet to materialise, the manager admitted reintegration remains a possibility once the transfer window shuts.
