Much of the summer discussion around Manchester United has revolved around high-profile arrivals.

INEOS had no choice but to bring quality reinforcements, after the season United fans had to endure.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have already shown their quality, making an instant impact despite the opening-day defeat to Arsenal.

Their energy and creativity have given United fans a glimpse of what could be a much more dynamic attack this season.

But while all eyes have been on the men’s side, the women’s team have also been quietly active in shaping its squad for the new campaign.

Lucy Newell recently departed for Birmingham City, while Rachel Williams and Keira Barry both committed their futures to United with contract extensions.

Now, United have officially confirmed via club website, that midfielder Emma Watson has sealed a season-long loan to Crystal Palace.

The Scotland international enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 campaign, making her Reds debut away at Everton.

A milestone in her return from an ACL injury picked up on international duty shortly after joining in 2023.

Watson went on to net her first United goal against Newcastle before heading out on loan to Everton, where she impressed further and even won Player of the Match against Spurs.

After featuring in pre-season with United this summer, the 19-year-old will now look to continue her development in south London.

She joins a Palace side led by Jo Potter, who previously enjoyed success at Rangers with back-to-back domestic doubles.

The Eagles are preparing for their first campaign back in the WSL after relegation last term, and Watson will aim to make a big impact in midfield.

Palace begin their season away to Charlton Athletic on 7 September, with United wishing Emma the very best as she takes the next step in her journey.
