It has been a mixed start to life at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, who has quickly realised the extent of challenges that lie ahead.

The Red Devils came out on top against Fulham on Sunday night, with a narrow 1-0 win.

Crystal Palace head to Old Trafford this Sunday, aiming to leapfrog the Red Devils in the Premier League table.

The Eagles dropped to 13th after back-to-back defeats, with Brentford taking all three points and United edging Fulham.

Victory for Oliver Glasner’s side would see them regain momentum after a stuttering start to the new year.

However, attention isn’t solely on the pitch, with both clubs navigating potential moves ahead of the February 3 transfer deadline.

Manchester United remain locked in negotiations for Patrick Dorgu, with Ruben Amorim seeking to reinforce the left wing-back position.

The left wing-back is a huge position of priority in Amorim’s system.

Hence it comes as no surprise to see United struggle down the left flank on-the-pitch, due to the current imbalance.

The Red Devils have verbally agreed terms with the Lecce defender but are struggling to finalise a fee with the Serie A club.

According to reports from The Sun, Crystal Palace are now bracing for potential consequences should United fail to land their top target.

It is feared United could turn their attention to Tyrick Mitchell, who has started all 23 league games for the Eagles this season.

The Sun suggests this scenario could push Palace to revisit a move for El Hadji Malick Diouf.

He is currently valued at £20m by Slavia Prague.

Brighton are also in talks for the Senegal international.

Palace have already had a £12.5m bid rejected earlier this window.

With time running out, both clubs face significant decisions as they prepare for a crucial Premier League showdown.
