Manchester United are still navigating a hectic pre-season under Ruben Amorim, with the club’s preparations for the 2025/26 campaign split between domestic fitness work and managing player movement.
The Red Devils are continuing to evaluate outgoing loans and permanent deals as several first-team and fringe players seek new opportunities abroad.
With Joshua Zirkzee, Matheus Cunha and new incoming Bryan Mbeumo expected to feature heavily in Amorim’s attacking structure this season, outgoings were always likely to include at least one senior forward.

And while the links to Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona have now materialised into a completed loan deal, there is still confusion over what happens next.
According to Simon Stone via X, Rashford’s loan agreement includes a €35 million (£30.3 million) option for Barcelona to make the move permanent.
However, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claims, via X, the figure is actually €30 million (£26 million).
Despite the minor discrepancy, both journalists are aligned on one detail: Barcelona are currently struggling with LaLiga’s registration rules and cannot officially field Rashford in competitive matches.
Until that issue is resolved, the 27-year-old will be allowed to train with the team and play in non-competitive fixtures, with Barca expected to take him on their upcoming Japan tour.

The former United academy graduate has already been pictured boarding a private jet and is said to be in high spirits ahead of his new chapter.
While United are yet to officially comment on the difference in reported figures, sources close to the club indicate that any permanent transfer would still require final approval, regardless of the clause value.
Rashford’s move has been met with mixed reactions among United fans, with some lamenting the exit of a homegrown icon, and others suggesting it was the right time for a fresh start after a difficult 2024/25 campaign.
Whether the option is £30.3 million or £26 million, Barcelona appear to have pulled off a shrewd move for a player entering his peak — though United will hope the loan reignites Rashford’s form, or at the very least, increases his long-term value.
