Christopher Vivell’s growing influence at Manchester United continues to shape the club’s transfer priorities heading into the final month of the window.
Appointed as Director of Recruitment in June, Vivell plays a key internal role in identifying and securing top-level talent.
Especially when it comes to long-term investments rather than short-term fixes.
United’s summer transfer activity is being streamlined under the new INEOS-led hierarchy, with Vivell trusted to drive key decisions in the market.
The striker department has proven to be a major challenge so far, with the Red Devils missing out on both Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea, and Viktor Gyokeres, who opted for Arsenal.
It’s been a frustrating process for manager Ruben Amorim, who remains desperate for a reliable No.9 to lead the line.
Now, fresh hope may arrive from within the club’s own leadership structure.
According to Fabrizio Romano on his latest YouTube video, Christopher Vivell is “pushing” Manchester United to go all-in for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.
Romano notes that Vivell “knows the boy, he knows his potential, he knows his development,” and is internally driving the club’s interest in the Slovenian striker.
Vivell previously worked at both Salzburg and Leipzig, giving him firsthand insight into Sesko’s rise and the qualities that make him such an exciting talent.
It’s a situation to watch in the coming days as Romano stated himself, especially with Newcastle United’s sustained interest in the 22-year-old.
However, United fans may remain cautious.
Sesko, while promising, is still raw and unproven at the top level.
A move to Old Trafford would represent a bold gamble for both club and player.
Particularly given United’s poor track record when it comes to nurturing young attackers into consistent first-team performers – Rasmus Hojlund being a perfect example.
Sesko for now though, remains firmly on United’s striker shortlist – alongside Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
