Manchester United are edging closer to being able to offload Alejandro Garnacho, as Chelsea are ramping up their interest in the attacker.

The Argentina international found himself on the United “bomb squad” after publicly undermining Ruben Amorim after the Europa League final.

Garnacho commented that he didn’t understand why he was left out of the starting line-up, with The Red Devils going on to lose 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.

This saw Amorim cut Garnacho from his squad and exile him to individual training on his return to Carrington for pre-season preparations.

Now, The Red Devils are hoping to cash in on their talented winger with Chelsea determined to sign him this summer.

The London-based side were interested back in the winter window, even looking at a player-swap deal including Christopher Nkunku.

However, nothing materialised, with Chelsea continuing to monitor the situation.

Since then it’s emerged that Garnacho was just as keen for the move, with the winger already having agreed personal terms for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Before, it was reported that Chelsea are happy to wait until deadline day to try and get the 21-year-old at a cut-price deal.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Chelsea have stepped up discussions with The Red Devils to try and secure their man sooner.

It’s understood that the two clubs are now negotiating over the winger’s transfer fee, with United in a weakened position of power given the public knowledge of their desire to offload him this summer.
