Manchester United could receive a last minute offer for one of their star players, as Chelsea are set to make an 11th-hour swoop for Alejandro Garnacho.

The London-based side have been eyeing up the Argentine winger for the latter half of the transfer window as Napoli refused to meet United’s asking price of £60 million.

Whilst discussions around a move for Garnacho appeared to go quiet, Chelsea are now stoking the fires once more, hoping to get a swap deal across the line.

Football London has reported that Chelsea are aiming to see Garnacho move to London, sending Christopher Nkunku the other way, hoping to capitalise on United’s recent misfortune of missing out on Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.

The Red Devils were hoping to bring Tel to Old Trafford as the current strike options of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are failing to to find the net.

However, the deal for Tel has seemingly collapsed, with Chelsea aware of United’s eyes on their forgotten striker.

Another huge boost for United were they to agree the deal is that Nkunku plays as both a striker and a left-winger, providing a great versatility to either replace Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on the left, sit behind one of the exiting strikers up top, or establish himself as Ruben Amorim’s first-choice striker.

With the final day of the transfer window now upon us, Chelsea will need to act fast if they hope to get the deal across the line, however are starting from a good place with the idea already in the air from the last few weeks.
