Up until now, Manchester United’s summer signing strategy has been very clear: bolster the offense and give the striker more inventiveness.

The early arrival of Matheus Cunha and the continued search for Bryan Mbeumo suggest an energetic, adaptable, and stylish attacking midfield that has been rebuilt.

However, the obvious problem still exists notwithstanding those reinforcements.

There is still no dependable, clinical No. 9 for United to lead the line.

Last season, Rasmus Hojlund only managed four league goals due to his lack of consistency.

As resentment grows, it is thought that Carrington staff, especially Amorim, put Hojlund “on trial.”

Joshua Zirkzee, on the other hand, is better suited for a supporting striker position than a true striker.

Chido Obi also broke through to the first team last season providing another option up top.

But the Red Devils still need experience.

And a surprising option has emerged as Chelsea quote their asking price.

As per the Mirror, Manchester United have been quoted £35m to sign Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku.

After spent a total of £90 million this summer to acquire Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, Nkunku, 27, is surplus to needs at Chelsea.

They are also expected to finalise a £55 million deal for Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund as part of their ongoing spending spree.

Chelsea are looking to offload several positions with a forward being one after their recent incomings.

Back in the winter transfer window, when a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho going to Chelsea in lieu of Nkunku was being discussed, the French striker surfaced as a United contender.

But nothing came of it, as both players stuck firmly to their clubs.

The 27-year-old’s final notable Premier League appearance came against Brentford at the beginning of April, and he was also side-lined at the end of the season due to injury.

The possibility of a trade has now surfaced once more, with Chelsea still interested in the Argentina international Alejandro Garnacho, who is expected to depart Old Trafford this summer.
