Marcus Rashford’s place at Manchester United came under increasing scrutiny after being exiled from the squad.

The forward’s attitude and mentality have been questioned by Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff.

This led to casting doubts over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Rashford’s struggles for form have been evident since his standout 2022/23 season, where he scored 30 goals under Erik ten Hag.

Since Amorim’s arrival, the 27-year-old has been deemed unsuitable for the new 3-4-3 system.

The system which relies on two attacking midfielders operating as the creative outlets.

That tactical mismatch has contributed to Rashford’s decline.

It now appears both he and the club are prepared to explore potential exits.

According to David Ornstein’s report, Borussia Dortmund are one of several clubs considering a loan move for Rashford during the January window.

The Bundesliga side joins AC Milan, Juventus, and a handful of Premier League clubs in weighing up an attempt to sign the England international until the summer.

While no decision has been made yet, the prospect of Rashford remaining at United cannot be ruled out.

This is despite his openness to a “new challenge.”

Interest from other clubs is intensifying.

Discussions are ongoing to evaluate the feasibility of a temporary switch.

United and Dortmund’s familiarity with these types of deals, such as Jadon Sancho’s loan return to Germany last January, may help facilitate the process.

However, finances could pose a significant hurdle.

Rashford’s wages exceed £325,000 per week, with his contract running until 2028.

United will likely insist on covering as much of his salary as possible.

Meanwhile Rashford will focus on selecting the best destination to revive his career.

Rashford will be keen to impress England manager Thomas Tuchel, in order to secure his place in the squad.
