Manchester United are hot on the tail of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in a bid to make their second major signing of the summer, following sealing a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers Matheus Cunha.

The talented attacker has had a fantastic season for The Bees, grabbing 20 goals and nine assists in 42 games.

As such, United are looking to the Cameroon international as a strong upgrade to remodel the attack, having already fended off interest from other Premier League clubs.

Newcastle United backed down from the transfer race with his £250,000 per week wage demand proving to costly for him, and a pursuit from Spurs and new manager Thomas Frank is reported as “highly unlikely”.

As such, United appear to be the front runners to sign Bryan Mbeumo, however may still have to wait for the move to take place.

Recent reports have suggested that a second bid of £60 million has been submitted following Brentford’s rejection of United’s initial £45 million bid plus £10 million in add-ons.

However, Manchester Evening News has now reported that we may have to wait for any further information on the transfer saga until after the transfer market reopens on 16th June.

Whilst the two week initial transfer window closes today, the report explains confirmation of the second bid should come through once the transfer window reopens in a weeks time.
