Manchester United’s focus remains firmly on shaping their squad under Ruben Amorim, especially after they suffered defeat at home to Arsenal in their Premier League opener.

Supporters are keeping a close eye on transfer business, especially with United continuing to be linked with midfield reinforcements and potential exits before the window closes.

Several former players have also been making moves this summer, highlighting the wide-reaching influence of the club’s academy and scouting network.

From the Premier League down to the lower leagues, past United talents are still finding new chapters in their careers.

One of those is Nick Powell, who has just completed a move to Bradford City, as they announced via their website.

Nick Powell, once tipped for stardom at Old Trafford, becomes manager Graham Alexander’s 10th signing of the summer as he joins the Bantams at the University of Bradford Stadium.

The midfielder arrives after a spell with Stockport County, where he was part of the side that secured the Sky Bet League Two title in 2024.

The 31-year-old has enjoyed an eventful career since leaving United, collecting silverware with both Wigan Athletic and Stockport.

He famously helped Wigan lift the League One title in 2018 and has racked up nearly 200 Championship appearances with Wigan and Stoke City, scoring 48 goals and providing 19 assists during that time.

Speaking after signing, Powell expressed his excitement: “I am really pleased to be here.

“I spoke to Graham Alexander, he sold the club to me and I am raring to go.

“The crowd here is a massive draw, having such large attendances in League One is a massive pull for anyone.”

His new boss Alexander also praised the deal: “Nick’s ability is undoubted and he is determined to rediscover the form he has shown many times previously.

“It is a deal that suits both parties, and we are looking forward to helping him enjoy his football and show his quality once more.”

Powell will wear the number 22 shirt at Bradford and is available for sponsorship, with his move still subject to the usual EFL and FA clearances.

For Manchester United fans, Powell’s story is another reminder of the unpredictable paths players take after leaving Old Trafford, with some still carving out strong careers across English football.
