Manchester United have been looking at reinforcing their squad all over the pitch this summer as the club look to bounce back from last season’s 15th place finish in the Premier League.
As such a whole host of names have been linked with an Old Trafford move as United have been prioritising recruitment to their attacking line followed by their midfield and goalkeeper departments.
Already Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have been recruited for the United attack with Benjamin Sesko set to be unveiled in the coming days as the club’s new striker.
Other reports have emerged that Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba is the top target for The Red Devils as a long-term replacement for Casemiro who enters the final year of his contract.
However, before focusing on Baleba, United were looking to Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Ndidi has now been snapped up by former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he moves to Turkey to join Besiktas.
Now, taking to their official website, Besiktas have announced; “An agreement has been reached with the club and the player regarding the transfer of professional football player Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi.”
The statement continued: “A 3+1-year contract has been signed with Ndidi. The total transfer fee will be €8,000,000 to Leicester City Football Club Limited.”
Wilfred Ndidi joins Felix Uduokhai, Tammy Abraham, and Joao Mario as new signings under Solskjaer, alongside Orkun Kokcu and David Jurasek who have joined on loan from Benfica.
Besiktas are looking to improve on their fourth-place finish in the Super Lig last year, as well as prepare for their UEFA Conference League campaign, currently playing through the qualifying rounds.
