Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is looking increasingly likely to make his move to Arsenal this summer after a major fall out with the Portuguese side.
However, for a long time it looked as though Gyokeres would be moving to the Premier League with Manchester United instead of Arsenal.
Links between The Red Devils and Gyokeres began as soon as Ruben Amorim moved from Sporting to Old Trafford in November 2024.

With Amorim having immense success in the Portuguese capital, a move for his talented youngsters, including his star striker, seemed inevitable, despite the manager swearing against a winter raid.
Reports instantly started surfacing of interest from United not only in Gyokeres but also Goncalo Inacio, Ousmane Diomande, Geovany Quenda and Francisco Trincao, however nothing has developed.
United have been prioritising the redevelopment of their attack, with Matheus Cunha joining the side from Wolverhampton Wanderers, however delayed talks for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo have now stalled The Red Devils’ transfer movement.
As such, a lot of United’s initial targets like Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike have either already been snapped up by other sides or seem to be set for an imminent move.

Unfortunately for Amorim, Gyokeres is no exception, with talks ongoing between Arsenal and Sporting as the man himself has gone on strike, refusing to attend pre-season training to try and force the move.
However, reports from BBC Sport have now suggested that Viktor Gyokeres rejected a move to Old Trafford.
The report explains that Gyokeres has “decided against a move to United.”
Whilst there’s no comment of whether a bid was tabled from United to Sporting, or when Gyokeres’ decision was made, the decision against reuniting with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford was actively made.
