Defenders are likely included in Ruben Amorim’s demands for Manchester United’s shopping list this summer.

Leny Yoro and Lisandro Martinez have suffered extensive injuries this season, with the latter’s likely to keep him out of action well into next season.

Harry Maguire has performed well of late, but has also endured injury issues of his own this season, but Matthijs de Ligt has provided a more reliable option.

Victor Lindelof looks to be on the move this summer, while Jonny Evans, at 37 years old, cannot be expected to play huge amounts of football next season.

The emergence of Ayden Heaven, signed from Arsenal in January, has been positive for Amorim, but even then, the 18-year-old is currently nursing a foot injury.

The need for a reliable centre-half is prominent, and according to CFBayern, United could return for a former transfer target this summer.

South Korean defender Kim Min-Jae was at the top of the Red Devils’ target list in the summer of 2023, when the 28-year-old was leaving Napoli.

They were beaten in the race by German giants FC Bayern Munich, but Min-Jae could be back on the market this summer.

CFBayern report that Bayern would be prepared to sanction a sale if they receive an offer between £34-43m this summer.

The defender was a revelation in Germany last season, but has fallen out of favour at times during this campaign.

Combined with Bayern’s pursuit of German centre-half Jonathan Tah, a move for Min-Jae could present a market opportunity for United this summer.

Signing for Napoli from Turkish club Fenerbahce in 2022, the defender burst onto the scene and established himself as one of Europe’s finest defenders as the Italian giants went on to win Serie A.

His £45m release clause was quickly triggered by Bayern Munich, as the German club looked to build up under Thomas Tuchel.
