Bayer Leverkusen have undergone a major shake up this summer as Erik ten Hag as replaced Xabi Alonso has head coach.

Alonso left the Bundesliga giants to join Real Madrid this summer, with the Dutch manager taking his seat in Germany.

However, Alonso hasn’t been the only one to leave, with a whole host of players finding new homes this summer.

The duo of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong have joined Liverpool, Granit Xhaka has gone to newly promoted side Sunderland, Jonathan Tah has joined Bayern Munich and Odilion Kossounou has moved to Atalanta.

As such, the club have had to make some major recruitments with the likes of Jarrel Quansah joining from Liverpool, Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven and Ibrahim Maza from Hertha BSC.

Whilst Quansah has been recruited to ten Hag’s back line, the Bundesliga side are reportedly still looking for a defensive leader, with Sky Sports reporting that Leverkusen are looking to former Red Devil Victor Lindelof.

The centre-back was released by Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expired, having signed Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Noussair Mazraoui who can all operate in Ruben Amorim’s back three.

As such, Lindelof was let go and has been searching for his next club ever since after spending eight years with The Red Devils.

However, Lindelof has good stock with Erik ten Hag, having played 67 games under the Dutchman whilst ten Hag was at Old Trafford.

It’s understood that ten Hag has even taken matters into his own hands and contacted his former defender in a bid to lure him to Germany.

Now, a reunion could well be on the cards, with Victor Lindelof being a free agent and therefore a cheap signing for the German giants.
