Marcus Rashford is closing in on a move away from Old Trafford with this summer with Barcelona looking the most likely candidates for the 27-year-old following Fabrizio Romano’s famous ‘here we go’ tagline for the deal earlier.
The agreement of this deal follows weeks of speculation about the winger’s future following Rashford’s return from his loan at Aston Villa during the second-half of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

This speculation has seen hints from Rashford personally such as changing his profile picture on X.
It has also seen the winger separated from Ruben Amorim’s pre-season training schedule with the English international not making the journey to Manchester United’s USA camp.
Furthermore, the 27-year-old has been part of a ‘bomb squad’ made up of five players – including Alejandro Garnacho and Antony – who have only been allowed to report at Carrington at 5pm each day, long after the rest of Ruben Amorim’s senior squad have completed their training.
But, with Marcus Rashford now looking set to move to Spain, he would return to full-time training with some of Barcelona’s best players such as Lamine Yamal.
However, a key part of the deal for Rashford to move to Barcelona is the wage split between Manchester United and Spain.
Typically, when a loan happens, the salary of a player would be split between the two associated clubs so that neither club is paying the full wage of a club.

But, now according to David Ornstein, Barcelona are set to pay Rashford’s entire salary as a part of the proposed deal between the two clubs.
This would mean that Manchester United would not pay any part of the 27-year-old’s wage for the duration of the loan which would free up some of their wage budget for other players.
This may be helpful when pursuing other targets during the remainder of this summer’s transfer window.
