Manchester United continue to dominate the headlines as the new Premier League season edges closer.

Preparations are in full swing at Carrington, with Ruben Amorim fine-tuning his squad after a whirlwind summer transfer window.

United fans are eagerly anticipating the club’s opening clash at Old Trafford, with discussions on team selection, new arrivals, and possible late transfer deals still ongoing.

Off the pitch, Old Trafford has been buzzing with renewed energy, with both the men’s and women’s sides aiming to push boundaries this season.

Away from the intense spotlight on the men’s squad, a major development has emerged from the women’s team — one that underlines United’s growing ambition in the women’s game.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Fridolina Rolfo on a contract until June 2027, subject to registration, after four successful years at FC Barcelona, as was announced via the clubs website.

The 31-year-old, who recently celebrated her 100th cap for Sweden in the UEFA Women’s European Championship — scoring in the same match against Germany — has taken her international goal tally to 33.

Fridolina Rolfo is renowned for her versatility as a left-sided player, equally adept in both attacking and defensive roles.

Across her career, she has made 313 senior club appearances and scored 113 goals for sides including Barcelona, VfL Wolfsburg, and Bayern Munich.

Her glittering stint at Barcelona saw her lift two UEFA Champions League titles and four Primera División crowns.

Speaking on her move, Fridolina Rolfo said: “It’s really exciting to be joining Manchester United, not just because of the size and history of the club, but also to become part of the journey the club is on in the women’s game.

“I have been fortunate to enjoy lots of success at Barcelona and other clubs I have played for, and now I want the same at Manchester United.

“The WSL is probably the strongest league in the world right now, so that was a big part of the appeal of coming here, as well as the chance to help the team establish itself in the Champions League.

“I can’t wait to work with Marc, his staff and my new team-mates and get started with this new adventure in my career.”

Matt Johnson, Manchester United’s director of women’s football, added: “Fridolina is one of the most talented and successful players in the women’s game, both at club and international level.

“She will add quality and experience to our squad, and the winning mentality of someone with over 20 major honours and 100 international caps.

“Her signing demonstrates the ambition we have to compete at the highest level in domestic and European competition, and we are delighted to welcome Fridolina to Manchester United.”

This marks the United women’s team second coup of the signing after they confirmed the signing of Sweden international Julia Zigiotti Olme on a two-year deal.
