Barcelona show determination in signing Marcus Rashford

Barcelona are still keen to sign Marcus Rashford amid links with Atletico Madrid’s Nico Williams.

Barcelona have made a clear statement of their intent in signing Marcus Rashford with the LaLiga side looking to reinforce their attack.

Rashford’s future away from Manchester United has been set since the winter, with Ruben Amorim dropping the attacker from his squad.

The United coaches grew concerned over Rashford, feeling off-field factors were affecting his on-field focus.

In January in a bid to restart his career, Rashford went on loan to Aston Villa, however The Villains opted against making his move permanent for £40 million.

Now with Rashford back at Old Trafford, the attacker is hoping to get a permanent move away, even looking to miss the pre-season tour to concentrate on a transfer.

Barcelona have been linked for some time now, with the LaLiga side originally stepping away due to his hefty wages of £350,000 per week.

However, over recent weeks, Rashford’s agent has met with Barca’s sporting director Deco in a hotel in the Spanish city.

Deco and manager Hansi Flick are both keen to sign Rashford however are also looking at Atletico Madrid’s Nico Williams.

Now, The Guardian has reported that even if Barca sign Williams as they’re expected to do, they’re still looking to pursue the United wantaway.

It’s understood that Marcus Rashford is regarded as a key asset to acquire due to his versatility across the front line.

Rashford’s pace cutting in from wing and his ability to play as a striker would deepen the Barcelona  squad and would provide a back-up option to Robert Lewandowski at centre-forward.

The Spanish giants are reportedly only looking at taking Rashford on loan however, which could cause an issue for United who want to offload the attacker for good.

However, Barca aren’t letting the pursuit of Williams take away any focus in signing the England international.
