Barcelona have been scouring the market this summer in a bid to bolster their attacking options as they look to retain their LaLiga title next season.

Unfortunately for the Spanish side, they haven’t had much luck so far with their key attacking targets.

Barca have been prioritising the signing of a quality left-winger this summer, specifically targeting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.

However, with Liverpool declaring their man is not for sale when Barca and Bayern Munich have come knocking, and Williams signing a new contract with Athletic, the LaLiga champions are back at the drawing board.

One constant on their transfer list however, has been Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, with the side seeing him as a strong asset to bring versatility across the front line.

However, Florian Plettenberg has now reported that the United want-away is joined on Barca’s shortlist by another Premier League attacker in the form of Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku’s time at Stamford bridge has been suspected to be over for some time, as the striker has been offered several times now to Manchester United as part of a swap-deal for Alejandro Garnacho.

Nothing has materialised with the offers however, with United looking for a straight sale for Garnacho to cash in on his unique position of being an academy graduate.

As such, a full sale of the Argentine winger, and for Rashford for that matter, would constitute as pure profit under Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), helping further with the club’s finances.

However, the lack of a swap-deal hasn’t stopped United considering Nkunku in their bid to find a new striker to replace Rasmus Hojlund as the Red Devils’ first-choice striker.

Now, United will have Barcelona to contend with however if they do wish to look further into a move for the Chelsea attacker.
