Aston Villa have now officially unveiled Jadon Sancho as one of their deadline day signings, as they prepare for the rest of the Premier League season.
Sancho is joined by Harvey Elliot from Liverpool and former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof in moving to Villa Park at the end of the summer transfer window.
Now, unveiling their new signing, Villa have taken to their official site, announcing: “Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.”
The statement continued: “The England international joins Villa on a season-long loan.
“Sancho has been playing at the highest level of the club game since he was a teenager, particularly impressing for Borussia Dortmund during his time in the Bundesliga.
“Last term, the winger was on loan at Chelsea where he helped the London club win the UEFA Europa Conference League, scoring in the final against Real Betis.
“Welcome, Jadon!”
Now, Sancho is set to remain closer to Old Trafford than things first looked this summer, with the winger having routine links to Serie A, being pursued by both Juventus and AS Roma at varying times.
However this marks the second time in the year that Villa have taken a United attacker on loan, with Marcus Rashford having joined Unai Emery’s side in January.
Now, Sancho will be hoping to help Aston Villa get back into the Champions League for next season as he also prepares for their Europa League campaign kicking off later this month.
Villa currently sit in 19th place after three games, having drawn 0-0 to Newcastle United in the opening game before losing to Brentford and Crystal Palace, with The Villains yet to score this season so far.
Last season Sancho recorded five goals and ten assists in 41 games for Chelsea, so no doubt Emery will be hoping he can at very least match that record at Villa Park.
