Former Manchester United defender Ashley Young has had a truly lengthy career as the 40-year-old signed his first professional contract in 2003 and has only just been released by Everton at the end of the season.
The former England international has racked up an impressive 750 appearances, with 86 goals and 108 assists across stints with Watford, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Everton, after a brief return to Villa Park.
The right-back came through the Watford academy back in 2003, where over four years, he helped them gain promotion into the Premier League in 2005/06 by winning the Championship play-offs.
However, after a season in the Premier League, Young was snapped up by Aston Villa for around £11.5 million.

Then, after four seasons at Villa Park, the defender found himself at Old Trafford where he started filling up his trophy cabinet, winning the Premier League in 2012/13, the last time United claimed the league title, as well as the Europa League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and two Community Shields.
Young spent nine years in the United squad, his longest time at any club, showing off his versatility by playing on both flanks at various points, making 261 appearances for the Red Devils, grabbing 19 goals and 33 assists.
However, in 2020, Young left England to join Inter Milan as his first and only foreign club, where he only stayed for a year, winning the Serie A, and then returning to Aston Villa on a free trasnfer.
Two years later and the former United star ended up making another free transfer to Everton, where he’s now been released at the end of his contract.

However, the 40-year-old may not be hanging up his boots just yet, with a potential homecoming on the cards.
TalkSPORT have reported that Watford are exploring the potential of seeing their former academy player return to the squad.
The Championship club are looking to fight their way back up the league table after finding themselves in and around 11th to 15th place for the last three years since being relegated from the Premier League.
It’s understood that Ashley Young is keen for the move, excited about the prospect of retiring at his boyhood club.
The call is ultimately up to head coach Paulo Pezzolano, however the club have no concerns over the defender’s fitness levels, even at 40-years-old.
