Liverpool are already looking to reinforce their squad after winning the Premier League, targeting key signings across the pitch.
Arne Slot has already lost Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Real Madrid paying £10 million for an immediate transfer. However, The Reds have signed former Manchester United target Jeremie Frimpong in his place.
Fresh off the back of signing Frimpong, Slot has been prioritising the transfer of another Bayer Leverkusen star, Florian Wirtz.
However, he isn’t the only the only attacker on Liverpool’s radar as they actively push to sign one of United’s attacking targets.

Arne Slot leaves holiday to meet with Rayan Cherki

The target in question is Lyon’s Rayan Cherki who has had a phenomenal season with the French side, resulting in several clubs trying to sign the star.
The Athletic has reported that Arne Slot left his holiday last week to fly to the south of France to meet with Cherki in some prearranged discussions.
It’s understood that the meeting was set up before the club advanced discussions with Wirtz, closing in on a deal. As such, the continued interest in Cherki appears to be as a backup in case the Wirtz deal falls through.
However, Manchester City are on the fringe, actively prioritising the France international after their own pursuit of Wirtz fell through.
It’s understood that Cherki has in fact agreed to a move to City, putting them in pole position to sign him, with a fee sitting at around £34 million.
Unfortunately after missing out on Liam Delap, it looks as though another target may slip through their fingers.
That said, it’s won’t have a massive impact on The Red Devils’ transfer plans, as they close in on signing Bryan Mbeumo in his place.
