Antony has been nothing short of a sensation since he switched Manchester United for Real Betis in the January transfer window.
The Brazil attacker is widely seen as one of the worst signings in Manchester United history.
Joining the club in 2022 for a mammoth fee of €95m from Ajax, MUFC fans have long lamented the signing and the impact it has had on the club.
So when Real Betis came in to take the player on loan in January, many United fans rejoiced at the news.
The idea behind the move was that hopefully Antony could show some of the promise that he had displayed in the Netherlands at Betis and increase his transfer value.
Well, Antony has certainly held up his end of the bargain on that front.
Since arriving at Estadio Benito Villamarin, Antony has been on fire.
Antony has two goals and two assists in just five games and has quickly become an integral part of the Betis side.
So much so that it was seen as a major blow to the team when he was harshly sent off against Getafe in LaLiga – meaning he would miss the major clash against Real Madrid.
However, that decision was overturned and the Brazilian helped Real Betis to a 2-1 comeback win over Los Blancos this morning.
With all this in mind, many have wondered what the future holds for the player.
One thing is for sure – it’s likely that his future is away from Old Trafford.
And Betis are seemingly interested in the player with their manager praising Antony’s form since joining the club.
Now we know what United are looking for and have quoted to Real Betis.
According to TMW via Estadio Deportivo, Manchester United have quoted €50m to Real Betis for Antony.
Although that’s a massive reduction on what The Red Devils paid for the former Ajax star, it’s still a hefty price if United could recoup it.
And it’s one that the club would have struggled to get if he hadn’t made the move and shone so brightly in LaLiga.
Estadio Deportivo explain that the hype around Antony’s performances has even peaked the interest of Dorival Junior, head coach of the Brazilian national team.
For the first time in two years, Dorival is considering Antony for the team.
Due to the transfer demands of Manchester United, it seems that Antony will be out of reach for Real Betis.
Despite the club performing well in LaLiga, they don’t have the funds to pay €50m – an unattainable figure for the team from Seville.
So it seems that Antony’s future may be elsewhere.
Serie A giants Juventus are linked with a move for Antony and they must be impressed with what they’ve seen of the Brazilian’s performances in Spain.
The Manchester United hierarchy will be hoping that Antony can continue to shine in Spain and more clubs will be queuing up to take him and pay the asking price in the upcoming summer transfer window.
