Anthony Martial has been one of many former Manchester United players linked with a move to clubs around the world this summer.
At his former club AEK, the 29-year-old had shown glimpses of the brilliance that he offers including scoring four consecutive goals between November and December 2024.
In this time at the club, Martial also scored a further five goals.
However, injuries filled the striker’s spell with the club with difficulty.
This can be seen during this summer where the French striker picked up an injury ruling him out for a sustained period of time.
Following that injury, AEK’s manager Marko Nikolic handed Martial just thirty minutes following his return.
As well as this, the former Red Devils man was also left out of AEK’s squad for their European double header against Anderlecht.
With this the case, the 29-year-old has been linked with a number of other clubs where he could potentially rebuild his career and get more regular gametimes.
Now, the striker has officially joined a Mexican side, but it is not Pumas UNAM.
Speaking on their official website, Rayados de Monterrey stated that “Anthony Martial is joining Rayados de Monterrey on a permanent transfer with a contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year.”
With this move now confirmed, Martial may get more regular gametime giving him the opportunity to prove himself.
Furthermore, given his record at other clubs, the striker will look to get on the scoresheet and to return to form with a new side.
However, given his lack of gametime at AEK, it may take some time to reach the high levels of the past.
