Manchester United’s transfer business is gathering pace as the club ramps up preparations for their upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.

Ruben Amorim and his squad are expected to fly to Chicago next Tuesday, with a number of high-profile names notably absent from the training pitch in recent days.

While United’s focus remains on refining their squad, plenty of questions continue to swirl around the future of some senior players, especially in wide areas.

With Marcus Rashford training separately, Jadon Sancho exploring options in Italy, and Antony open to a wage reduction to secure a move away, the Red Devils could see a complete reshaping of their flanks before the end of the window.

Now, further clarity has emerged over another name at the heart of transfer speculation – Alejandro Garnacho.

The 21-year-old Argentine is one of four wingers Manchester United are open to selling this summer, but his situation has taken a twist.

Reports claim that Alejandro Garnacho has submitted a transfer request in an effort to push through his exit.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Garnacho’s representatives have rejected attempts by Pini Zahavi’s Gol International agency to broker a transfer away from Old Trafford.

Gol International, who represent Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, were exploring the possibility of engineering a deal involving Garnacho and their client.

Chelsea even floated a potential swap involving Nkunku and Garnacho last month, but United are not interested in the French forward.

The approach was shut down by Garnacho’s agents at Leaders, Carlos Cambeiro and Enrique de Lucas, who are determined to handle any negotiations themselves.

Cambeiro has been involved with Garnacho since his move from Atletico Madrid to Manchester United in October 2020 and has so far resisted pressure to involve intermediaries, unlike previous high-profile United deals such as Bruno Fernandes’ transfer in 2020, where Jorge Mendes played a role.

Interestingly, Cambeiro and De Lucas were spotted at Stamford Bridge back in January when Chelsea were weighing up a bid.

Chelsea, who have just landed Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and are on the verge of selling Noni Madueke to Arsenal, remain active in the winger market, but Garnacho’s exit is far from straightforward.

With United agreeing for Garnacho to miss the first phase of pre-season training and his absence from the US tour almost confirmed, the winger’s long-term future at the club is clearly in doubt – though his current camp seem determined to remain in control.
