Alejandro Garnacho and the Manchester United story has officially concluded.

Once heralded as the future of The Red Devils, the Argentina attacker has now left Manchester for pastures new.

For those unaware, Alejandro Garnacho joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid and joined the youth set up in 2020.

Already at that stage, Garnacho was seen as a player of huge talent and a huge coup for United.

Most Manchester United fans were first made aware of his abilities when he scored twice and helped the team win the FA Youth Cup final 2022.

From there, his star took off.

Alejandro Garnacho made his debut for the senior side later that year and scored his first goal for the club in the UEFA Europa League against Real Sociedad.

When he scored an injury time winner against Fulham to register his first goal in the English Premier League, comparisons were being made to United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo had also famously scored a late winner against Fulham in his early years at Old Trafford and many were drawing comparisons between the two.

When he scored the goal of the season against Everton and then followed up with the opening goal against Manchester City in a winning FA Cup triumph, many observers were mentioning that Manchester United have a £100m star on their hands who could take the club back to previous heights.

But it’s all fallen down from there.

The culmination of the drop came in the UEFA Europa League defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last season.

After starting on the bench and vocally telling reporters of his unhappiness at the situation, Ruben Amorim told Garnacho to find a new club.

CentreDevils at the time reported that Alejandro Garnacho would never play a competitive game for the club again and today that news has been confirmed.

Chelsea Football Club have officially announced the signing of Alejandro Garnacho.

Enzo Maresca’s side have detailed that the contract that Garnacho has signed ties him to Stamford Bridge until 2032.

It is believed that the fee is £40m with a 10% sell on clause.

Chelsea have long been linked with a move for the attacker, with many reporting that a deal was close in January.

However, it hasn’t taken much longer for the news to become official and for the Argentine to finally be announced as a Chelsea player.

“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started,” Garnacho told the Chelsea website.

“I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world!

“It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy”.

At least the chapter can now be closed on the story of Alejandro Garnacho and Manchester United.

Many Reds will be disappointed to see him go, while many will be pleased that he’s finally out of the club.

Either way, he’s joined the ranks of an English Premier League rival and will surely get an interesting reception the next time he returns to Old Trafford.
