Manchester United are still looking to offload some of their unwanted stars this summer, with Marcus Rashford being their only major offload so far.
The England international has joined Barcelona on a season-long loan deal, with the LaLiga champions having the option to buy for £26 million plus add-ons at the end of the season.
However, he was only one member of the “bomb squad” who Ruben Amorim put in individual training, keeping them separate from the team when returning to pre-season training.
The group consisted of Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia, with all five being priority offloads this summer.
Whilst Jadon Sancho’s move to Juventus has seemingly gone cold, Alejandro Garnacho is making steps to join Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The Argentina international expressed his desire to remain in the Premier League after being linked with moves to Napoli.
However, Chelsea have been the longest-running consistent interest, looking to the winger in the winter transfer window, even offering a player-swap deal with Christopher Nkunku.
It’s understood that at the time, Garnacho was keen for the move, a feeling which has remained, with the winger giving his priority to the London-based club.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Garnacho has agreed personal terms with Chelsea over a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
With the player’s contract details sorted, it’s expected that club-to-club negotiations over a fee will begin in the coming days to get the move across the line as soon as possible.
As Garnacho will not be featuring in Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford, United won’t be fighting to retain there star, more to ensure they get the right price for the winger.
However, with the creation of the “bomb squad” as well as the public nature of Amorim’s fall-out with Garnacho, The Red Devils are already going into the conversations with a weaker negotiation position, with Chelsea very aware that United are keen to offload him.
