Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig as The Red Devils need firepower to lead their new attacking trio.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have already been recruited to sit behind the striker in the number 10 roles, with Sesko looking to finalise the new attacking line.
The Slovenia international is set to be a major upgrade for The Red Devils who have been reliant on Rasmus Hojlund as the first-choice striker for the last two seasons.
Hojlund arrived from Atalanta in 2023 for a massive £72 million made up of a £64 million transfer fee and £8 million in add-ons.
Unfortunately though, the 22-year-old has only registered 26 goals and six assists in 95 games, failing to live up to his transfer fee just yet.
As such, the arrival of Benjamin Sesko could well lead to Hojlund being offloaded, with United looking to complete a huge overhaul of their squad for Ruben Amorim to lead the club back to its former glory.
With the Denmark international’s future now looking unclear, a return to Serie A looks most likely, with a whole host of Italian sides having repeated interest in the former Atalanta striker over recent months.
Now, Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that AC Milan are hoping to benefit from Sesko’s move to Old Trafford.
The Italian giants are looking to make a move for Hojlund on loan, hoping to capitalise on United’s desire to offload their attacker this summer, amidst their current rebuild under Ruben Amorim despite financial struggles.
However, with United still in club-to-club negotiations with Leipzig, and United’s decision on Hojlund seemingly reliant on signing his replacement before he leaves, we may still have to wait to see what will happen with the Dane this summer.
