AC Milan have been front runners for Marcus Rashford in this January transfer window.

Despite interest from Europe’s elite, Milan have led the charge on the back of recommendations from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The player-turned-advisor played alongside Rashford at Old Trafford for a season, so he knows the potential the English striker holds.

With Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic both injured, Milan are struggling with firepower up front, seeing Rashford as the answer to their problems.

However, the club now face some significant hurdles in getting the deal across the line.

Initially, Milan couldn’t afford to cover Rashford’s £325,000 per week salary, requiring United to contribute to wages if a loan deal was agreed.

However, this became even more unlikely with the collapse of Milan’s deal with RB Leipzig for Noah Okafor, who ultimately failed to pass his medical assessments.

Now, with the talks for the United man stalling, and Borussia Dortmund intensifying their efforts, Milan have found an alternative to the 27-year-old.

AC Milan look to Chelsea’s Joao Felix

Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has reported that AC Milan are now looking to Chelsea, with their talented attacker, Joao Felix.

Felix is struggling to assert himself at the club, recently having been an unused substitute in eight games this season.

Despite his seven goals and two assists in 19 games, Enzo Maresca is using Felix sporadically, giving the 25-year-old more of a chance for regular game time at the San Siro.

With the Portuguese star’s versatility, being able to play anywhere in attack as well as in central midfield, he’s certainly an interesting option for the Serie A side if their deal for Rashford doesn’t succeed.
