Ruben Amorim is yet to secure his marquee striker signing as Manchester United prepare for a crucial summer rebuild.

The club’s failed pursuit of Liam Delap, who opted for Chelsea, has left them exploring alternate options.

Viktor Gyokeres remains the preferred long-term solution, but Sporting Lisbon are unwilling to budge on their hefty valuation.

With no European football on offer at Old Trafford next season, persuading Gyokeres to move has become more complicated.

Manchester United must now offload players before any major incomings, and that has forced the club to weigh up more affordable, short-term options in the market.

According to talkSPORT, former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could now be on the radar at Carrington.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, currently playing for Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal, is being made available for around £40million as the Riyadh-based club reshuffle their squad ahead of the Club World Cup.

The 30-year-old has been prolific since arriving in the Middle East last year, scoring 68 goals in 79 appearances following his £50million move from Fulham.

Al Hilal are hoping to finalise a move for Napoli star Victor Osimhen, which would force them to sell or loan out one of their current foreign players due to the league’s overseas quota.

Mitrovic is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to return to the Premier League, and United are seriously considering a move if they can shift one of their current forwards.

It is reported that he is available for around £40m.

West Ham and Everton are also monitoring the situation, though United’s appeal could swing the Serbian’s decision if the Red Devils formalise their interest.

Al Hilal are yet to receive any official bids but are ready to negotiate once they land Osimhen or another top-tier striker.

The Serbian marksman would bring physicality, Premier League experience, and a proven goal record — key attributes that could help Amorim plug the gap before a long-term solution is signed.

Whether United pull the trigger or focus solely on Gyokeres remains to be seen, but Mitrovic is firmly in the conversation.
