Where Next for Ruud van Nistelrooy?
Paul Scholes has remarked that van Nistelrooy, having previously managed PSV, will have his own tactical ideas, making it difficult to be an assistant when those ideas may not align with the head coach’s vision.
Scholes noted that “there are certain things he will want to do that you don’t agree with the manager,” which could be a factor in the tension observed between van Nistelrooy and Erik ten Hag earlier this season.
“I think he should be a manager… he just looks like he is made to be a manager to me,” Scholes added, highlighting the belief that van Nistelrooy is ready for a more prominent role.

This shows that he will not be short of job offers if he were to leave the club.
His successful tenure at PSV, where he won two trophies and secured a second-place finish, has proven his ability.

While some United fans hope he stays, the arrival of Ruben Amorim and his own staff suggests that van Nistelrooy may need to accept a lesser role, which seems unlikely.
Therefore, a departure looks more probable, but his time at United will be remembered fondly and he will certainly find another managerial opportunity elsewhere in Europe.
