Ruud’s Departure
Whilst van Nistelrooy has expressed his desire to remain at the club, it increasingly appears that a change is necessary for a fresh start under Amorim.
“I would regardless like to thank everybody for making me feel so welcome and supported during my time in the role,” van Nistelrooy said in his final programme notes.
His tenure, which has included an unbeaten run, has been marked by his leadership during a transitional period.
Despite this, it seems unlikely that van Nistelrooy will remain with the team as Amorim arrives with his own staff from Sporting CP.
“From [Monday], I will be getting behind our new head coach, Ruben Amorim, and I urge everyone who loves the club to do the same,” he added.
Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail has noted that, “it feels less and less likely” Van Nistelrooy will stay, with van Nistelrooy “a little bit prickly” when asked about his future.
As the club gears up for a new era under Amorim, van Nistelrooy’s departure seems inevitable, signaling the end of his brief but memorable time at Old Trafford.
