Casemiro – 5/10
It started off so well for Casemiro in this game.
It seemed as if the Brazilian and Mason Mount had forged an understanding in the first half that helped United dominate possession and recover the ball easily.
But Casemiro looked every bit his 31 years as he was easily beaten on a regular basis by Spurs’ younger and more energetic midfielders.
Did come close to pulling a goal back, with his header forcing a fine save from Vicario.
Mason Mount – 5/10
A better display than against Wolves, but still nothing to write home about.
Another performance where his off-the-ball worked helped United regain possession quite regularly in the first half, but he got lost in the Spurs onslaught in the second.
Was moved into a more attacking midfield role when Bruno went to the right and became even more synonymous.
Fans will be hoping that Ten Hag can figure out a way to utilise Mount more appropriately in the side as the current setup just doesn’t seem to be working.
Bruno Fernandes – 5/10
United’s talisman had a game he’d rather forget about.
Missed a glorious chance with a header when it looked easier to score.
Often tried the difficult ball in order to set Rashford or Garnacho away, but his passes were cut out regularly.
Moved to the right hand side when United brought on Eriksen, but he didn’t seem happy, with the familiar sight of him complaining to the referee resulting in a yellow card for Bruno.
United need more from their captain.
Alejandro Garnacho – 4/10
It seems as if Garnacho is struggling under the weight of being more than just an impact player.
Starting his second game in a row, Garnacho’s usual penchant of beating his man with ease seems to have curtailed somewhat with defenders finding it easier to cut his runs out.
Unlucky not to get a penalty when his cross hit the arm of Romero.
With Rashford moved to centre forward to accommodate Garnacho on the left, United seem to be missing a major threat down that side and Ten Hag may decide to leave the youngster out of the next match for that reason.
Marcus Rashford – 4/10
It’s clear why everyone thinks that Rashford works better from the left than as a centre forward.
Seemed he was generally cut off from the rest of the team as he’s just not comfortable with his back to goal.
United need to get either Anthony Martial or Rasmus Hojlund back to full fitness soon as it seems that the edge from Rashford’s game is missing through the middle.
Antony – 5/10
One of those frustrating Antony performances.
Tried a number of cute backpasses and turns on Udogie and the majority were cut off.
Needs to be serious with his play away from home as his skills are too often resulting in the ball being lost in crucial areas of the pitch.
Hit the post with a curled shot almost immediately after Spurs went 1-0 up, when you would expect a player of his skill to have put the ball in the back of the net.
