Liam Delap has been making waves in the Premier League since his £15 million move to Ipswich Town from Manchester City this summer after championship loans.

Despite Ipswich sitting in the relegation zone, Delap has been in fine form, registering six goals and an assist in 13 games, including a standout brace against Aston Villa.

The Athletic highlights Delap’s attributes as an “old-school” forward.

His ability to hold up play under pressure, combined with quality shooting and dribbling, makes him effective both in build-up play and in front of goal.

Delap’s physicality and powerful running would fit seamlessly into Ruben Amorim’s system at Manchester United, where strength and mobility are highly valued.

Delap’s standout performance against United earlier this season showcased his proficiency with his back to goal.

He consistently received the ball to feet, turned United’s centre-halves, and created dangerous opportunities.

While Hojlund excels at pressing and attacking space, Delap’s hold-up play remains superior at this stage of their development.

Despite Ipswich’s desire to keep their star striker, relegation could force their hand next summer.

Manchester City’s buy-back clause or matching rights may complicate any potential transfer for United, but it’s clear Delap has all the tools to thrive as a top Premier League No. 9.
