Adaptation
When Marcus Rashford burst onto the scene, he was an explosive, lightning-fast striker who thrived on running in behind defences.
His movement caused havoc for opponents, and his ability to exploit space made him a nightmare to play against
However, as managers have come and gone at Manchester United, bringing different systems and styles of play, Rashford has struggled to adapt.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Rashford enjoyed one of his most successful periods, but this was largely down to United’s counter-attacking approach, which suited his strengths perfectly.
With space to attack, Rashford was devastating.
Yet, when facing low blocks, he never quite evolved his game to break down organised defences, despite having all the tools to do so.
Much of this can be attributed to the instability at Manchester United.
Rashford has been part of a turbulent era, where a lack of managerial consistency and clear tactical identity has stunted the development of many players, not just him.
Coaches have struggled to maximise the potential of the squad as a whole, leaving Rashford as a player caught between styles, unable to fully flourish in a system that truly plays to his strengths.
