The Scotland international has had a knack of scoring important goals for the club and usually at crucial times.
But it was time for a new chapter for both player and club.
With Man Utd struggling to meet financial fair play regulations and McTominay counting as pure profit, along with the player likely to struggle for starts with the new recruitments, it was a sensible move for both parties.
Selling him abroad rather than to a club in the English Premier League means he’s unlikely to haunt the club in future.
Moving to Naples will also give Scott McTominay the chance to experience a new culture as well.
