Manuel Ugarte (£42m + £8.5m) – 6/10

There is no doubt that Ugarte is a talented player. He is a tenacious ball-winner and a reliable recycler of possession.

However, I have some concerns about how well he fits tactically.

It’s clear that whoever plays alongside Kobbie Mainoo will need to complement him for years to come.

Given this, it’s worth questioning why Manchester United signed Ugarte.

Mainoo’s weaknesses include his inability to cover large spaces and his lack of progressive passing, and unfortunately, Ugarte shares these same limitations.

In the current system, with these two as a pivot, Ugarte is destined to struggle.

Overall Incomings Average Score – 7.8/10

Man Utd have had a good window in terms of player recruitment.

However, with their most in-need position being their highest-risk signing in Ugarte, there is still room for improvement.

Although still with these issues, especially with the arrivals of youth stars Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone who both have been signed with an immediate first team view, this can be seen as Man Utd’s best transfer window in years.
