Midfield
Ruben Amorim’s midfield is perhaps the easiest area to predict.
Manuel Ugarte is a guaranteed starter, having been outstanding for Amorim at Sporting.
He is perfectly suited to the role with his exceptional ball-winning and ball-retention skills.
The other midfield spot, however, presents more of a question.
Bruno Fernandes filled this role against Arsenal, but long-term, it’s likely that Kobbie Mainoo will secure the position.
Mainoo is seen as Manchester United’s future, with his all-around midfield ability and potential to thrive under Amorim’s system.
Forwards
Up front, Rasmus Hojlund will be the primary striker for most games, with his physicality and goal-scoring instinct making him a key figure in Amorim’s attack.
However, Joshua Zirkzee will also play a significant role.
Particularly in matches where his unique style – dropping in as a false nine, can provide a different dynamic to the attack.
If Bruno Fernandes isn’t playing in midfield, he is guaranteed to start in another attacking position.
As Manchester United’s captain and arguably their best player, Fernandes will feature prominently in Amorim’s setup.
The other forward spot is more up for debate.
Between Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford is likely to feature the most.
United’s struggles for goals make Rashford’s ability to find the net crucial.
However, it’s important to note that Amorim will rotate his attackers depending on his tactical approach.
Ensuring the entire squad gets minutes and opportunities throughout the season.
