Who is Jim Thwaites?
Jim Thwaites is a highly talented 16-year-old central midfielder who has been making waves in Manchester United’s youth ranks.
He was one of ten players to sign a first-year scholarship with the club this summer, though he’s not eligible to sign a professional contract until he turns 17 in December.
Despite his young age, Thwaites has already demonstrated his potential, having played for United’s U16, U18, and U21 sides last season.
Thwaites has also recently trained with the first team squad.
Thwaites’ standout moment came when he won the Goal of the Season award in both the U16 and U18 categories, a rare achievement that showcases his technical ability and eye for important goals.
Last season, he made nine appearances for the U18s, with his goal in a 2-2 draw against Derby County proving crucial in maintaining their unbeaten run.
He made his U18 debut at just 15 and, although he hasn’t started a league game this season, Thwaites has made six impactful substitute appearances.
In limited minutes, he has already contributed two goals and one assist, further proving his ability to make a difference when called upon.
With two U21 appearances under his belt as well, it’s clear that Manchester United see a bright future for him.
As he continues to impress, Thwaites is expected to sign his first professional contract when he turns 17 in December, cementing his place as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects.
