2025/26 Starting XI

After a big 2024 summer window, Manchester United will be hoping they won’t need to spend the same huge fees to fill huge holes in their team.

That should allow them to instead focusing most of their budget on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

United were after Jarrad Branthwaite all summer, clearly seeing him as a future star, with the added benefit of being homegrown.

Manchester United could also see Branthwaite as a versatile solution to their left-back issues.

It has been widely reported that they will be looking for a permanent left-back option next summer, and Branthwaite might be the answer.

He’s played left-back a few times for PSV and Everton, and with his channel-defending abilities and tactical versatility, he could prove perfect for the role.

He might also help cover some of Lisandro Martinez’s weaknesses, especially when Martinez is too aggressive against forwards.

United may use next season to bed in new centre-back signing Leny Yoro, while Matthijs De Ligt provides a more than adequate alternative too.

They’ll also be hoping that new signing Manuel Ugarte will form a formidable midfield partnership with superstar Kobbie Mainoo.

Predicted XI : Onana – Dalot – De Ligt – L Martinez – J Branthwaite – Ugarte – Mainoo – B Fernandes – Amad D – Hojlund – Rashford
