Confidence low

Another critical issue facing Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United is the severe lack of confidence and low morale within the squad.

This is not the first time United’s players have looked like they’ve mentally checked out during a rough patch.

Heads dropped, body language worsened, and impulsive errors crept into their game, such as Bruno Fernandes kicking out at James Maddison – an act that, while harshly punished, reflected the frustration and lack of discipline spreading through the team.

After a poor run of form, United’s players seemed visibly defeated on the pitch, lacking the fight or belief to turn things around.

This was particularly evident against Tottenham, where the team looked lost after conceding, with no real leadership or direction.

Erik ten Hag, usually more active and intense on the touchline, didn’t project the enthusiasm or authority expected from a manager under pressure.

He appeared passive, a concerning sign that the situation might be reaching a breaking point.

When players stop believing in themselves – and perhaps in their manager – it often leads to a downward spiral.

The current lack of energy and conviction on display could be symptomatic of deeper issues in the squad, leaving many wondering if ten Hag still has control over the dressing room.
