Goalkeeper

Although Andre Onana has shown glimpses of his quality, his error-prone nature excludes him from consideration for this role.

Liverpool boast one of the greatest Premier League goalkeepers of all time in Alisson.

Alisson outshines Onana in nearly every aspect of goalkeeping, from shot-stopping to distribution and commanding his area.

While Onana is undoubtedly talented, Alisson operates on a level far beyond his current reach.

Defence

While Manchester United are currently leaking goals, Liverpool boast one of the best defensive records in the league.

As a result, any United player would struggle to break into Liverpool’s backline.

At right-back, United have Noussair Mazraoui, who has been an excellent signing, and Amad Diallo, who has occasionally been deployed as a wing-back.

However, with Trent Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool’s ranks, there is no debate – he remains undroppable.

At centre-back, Virgil van Dijk is unmatched, a player who would start for any team in the world.

However, the other centre-back position raises some questions.

While Ibrahima Konate has had an excellent season, his recent return from injury means he is unlikely to feature against United.

This opens the door for one of United’s centre-backs, with both Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt superior options to Jarrell Quansah or Joe Gomez.

At left-back, both teams have clear weaknesses.

United’s top transfer priority is a left wing-back, while Liverpool have been eyeing a replacement for Andy Robertson for several years.

If fully fit, Luke Shaw would edge Robertson for a spot in this lineup.

However, with Shaw sidelined, Robertson retains his place.
