Wayne Rooney (2004)
‘Wazza’ moved to United in a deal worth £27 million, which was a world record for a teenager at the time.
Rooney went on to become one of the greatest players in Premier League history, scoring 253 goals for United – becoming Manchester United’s greatest goalscorer in the process.
With a career filled with trophies and exceptional goals, Rooney’s deadline-day transfer to the club is one of the most memorable in Premier League history.
Radamel Falcao (2014) – Miss
The Colombian joined on loan from AS Monaco with high expectations due to his prolific goal-scoring record.
Falcao arrived on a monstrous wage at the time and many believed he’d become a potent striker in the English Premier League due to his previous goalscoring exploits at the likes of Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco.
Unfortunately, he struggled with injuries and didn’t perform at his best during his time at United.
His loan spell was massively disappointing with just four strikes in 29 games across all competitions.
So that’s out list. What do you think? Are there any other names for the list that you’d consider? Let us know in the comments below.
