Despite scoring three goals themselves, The Red Devils conceded four and came away from matchday one with zero points on the table.

Facundo Pellistri – 4/10

It was Pellistri’s only second start in the Manchester United shirt and he wasn’t able to impact the game as much as he would have wanted.

That is understandable, however, as he was thrown into as tough a game as there is against one of the best teams in the world.

The experience would have been invaluable to him and we can only hope he kicks on from here.

Rasmus Hojlund – 7/10

Hojlund getting his first goal for the club was one of the more pleasing things in what was a frustrating night for United.

It was a smart finish from him, albeit aided by a fortuitous deflection.

His hold-up play was hit and miss, with some misplaced passes but overall he did well in only his second start for the club.

Scott McTominay – 2/10

Terrible cameo from McTominay, with his main contributions being to give the ball away right when there was a promising attack developing.

Anthony Martial – 8/10

Martial, on the other hand, had a real impact in the short time he was given. He set up Casemiro’s first goal and won a foul in a dangerous area through good dribbling and agility.

Much better than his appearance against Brighton & Hove Albion.
