3. VAR Controversy
The VAR decision that awarded West Ham a late penalty was as contentious as they come.
Matthijs de Ligt’s alleged foul on Danny Ings could hardly have been softer, with many arguing there was minimal contact at best and a possible handball from Ings himself.
To make matters worse, De Ligt clearly got his knee to the ball first, raising serious questions about whether it was even a foul.
Referee David Coote appeared reluctant to challenge VAR’s judgment, opting to stick with the on-screen recommendation.
This controversial call has come at a particularly difficult time for United, potentially sealing Erik ten Hag’s fate as pressure mounts on his position.
