Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo started for United at right wing-back, a role for a winger Ruben Amorim has often utilised but was surprising so early in his tenure.

Despite the unconventional position, Amad was arguably United’s best outfield player.

He created the opening goal and was involved in nearly every dangerous move Manchester United produced.

However, questions remain about whether Amad would be more effective playing further forward.

United’s front three struggled to hold onto the ball, with possession frequently lost as passes into their feet were quickly returned to Ipswich.

Amad’s exceptional close control and ability to turn out of tight spaces could help United retain possession higher up the pitch.

Ruben Amorim praised Amad’s performance after the game, and while it’s early days, the chances of Amad being deployed in his preferred role seem high.
