Mazraoui Excellent

Summer signing Noussair Mazraoui, brought in from Bayern Munich for under £15 million, was superb.

Comfortable on the ball and clever in defence, Mazraoui was a force on the right side, shutting down Noni Madueke while rarely misplacing a pass and consistently finding the right option.

He’s proven effective at both right-back and left-back and has delivered impressive performances regardless of position.

At this point, Mazraoui might well be the signing of the summer, especially at his price.

For Ineos, he’s the type of high-value, low-cost signing they should target with looming financial constraints.

Mazraoui’s form will likely challenge Diogo Dalot for the right-wing-back role when Ruben Amorim arrives, and Amorim may need to find a consistent place for Mazraoui in the lineup.

Amorim Work To Do

However, Amorim has a major task ahead of him.

Despite ten Hag’s departure, United’s play lacked aggression, ideas, and a clear structure.

The press faded after the first 20 minutes, and in possession, the team seemed uncertain about their approach.

Amorim’s teams at Sporting have always shown cohesion and an understanding of spacing and movement, and if he is to succeed at United, he’ll need to instill these qualities quickly.

Fortunately, Amorim has the expertise to implement the structure and cohesion that this team needs.
