3. Rashford Right Wing

Another key tactical move was ten Hag’s decision to start Marcus Rashford on the right wing and Alejandro Garnacho on the left.

This tactical tweak allowed Rashford to exploit different spaces on the right-hand side, where he was able to drive into central areas and deliver the assist for Garnacho’s goal.

The switch also suited Garnacho, who is more comfortable playing on the left wing, where he can cut inside and link up with teammates.

The combination worked well, with Rashford moving into pockets of space and Garnacho’s work rate helping defensively as well.

While this isn’t Rashford’s preferred position, it provided United with much-needed balance in this game and offered a glimpse of how flexible the team can be.
