4. Midfield physicality
Manchester United’s midfield lacked physicality against Aston Villa, with Christian Eriksen and Kobbie Mainoo starting in the centre of the park.
While both players are technically gifted, neither provides the physical presence needed to dominate the midfield battle.
The absence of a stronger, more combative figure like Casemiro or new signing Manuel Ugarte was felt.
It was another game where United struggled to impose themselves physically.
However, both Casemiro and Ugarte have found it difficult to adapt to ten Hag’s current system, which has limited their effectiveness.
For United to regain control in the middle of the pitch, a solution needs to be found that integrates the necessary physicality alongside technical quality.
